TECHNICAL
CHOICES
The
Skyranger comes as an ultra fast build kit. All parts come pre-mounted
and use U bolts, discs, nuts, cables with turnbuckles in place etc.
They are only folded for reasons of transport. It is easy to unfold
the triangles and to assemble them. All the control surfaces are
already dacron-lined with bolts in place. It only remains for you
to adjust the engine cowling, cut out the canopy and the doors and
lastly assemble the engine and the instrument panel.
All
building is simple, educational and fun. It will result in you knowing
your aircraft inside out, having great confidence in its structure
and ensure your ability to carry out any further maintenance. This
in turn result in extremely affordable flying.
If
you have a PPL you can register your Skyranger as a VH aircraft.
When your Sky is ready to fly, SAAA will inspect it and give you
a permit to fly in the experimental category. You will have to fly
a few hours in a restricted area before big trips. With a transponder
and radio you will be able to fly in controlled airspace.
If
you choose to register your Skyranger as an RAA ( formerly the AUF,
Australian Ultralight Federation) aircraft, you will need an ultralight
licence plus complete a final inspection with an RAA approved inspecter.
The plane will then be registered in the RAA Amateut Built Category
or CAO 95.10
If you have no licence
you can train with your Skyranger!
