Options
Air Frame options.
V-Fun and V-Max are suited to engines
of between 50 and 80 HP V-Max is BCAR S certified and is more robust in
some key areas.
The Swift is more suited to engines
between 80 and 100 HP where the shortened wing can take advantage of the
higher cruise speed associated with these engines. Swift
has a very nimble roll rate and will give an improved ride in
turbulent conditions due to the higher wing loading.
Engine Options
The Skyranger is available with engine
mounts to suit Rotax 503, Rotax 582, Rotax 912, Rotax 912 ULS. Jabiru
2200., and HKS 700E., Engine mounts are also available to suit most VW
conversions although some work will be required on the engine cowls to
accommodate these engines.
Cloth covering options
Dacron Cloth
The Skyranger kits come complete with
high quality German Dacron covering available in many colours (see
below).It is highly recommended that the Dacron be clear coated with UV
protectant to extend the life of the cloth.
The cheapest and best solution for
Australian conditions is plain white Dacron. Painted to your own
requirements The white
Dacron can be easily painted with acrylic paint, in any colour you
choose This gives a very
good finish and excellent UV protection.
X- Lam Cloth
The Skyranger and Nynja are also
available with an optional improved
covering called X-Lam. Originally designed for extreme marine use
it comprises a Dacron internal layer with a high tech plasticised
coating on both sides .It boasts zero porosity ,superior tear resistance
up to three times the UV resistance of untreated Dacron. Advantages over
Clear coated or Painted Dacron is that it can be easily removed from the
aircraft for minor repairs and yet is still slightly lighter than
lacquered Dacron. X-Lam is available in Red and White only. X-Lam can be
easily personalised using
self adhesive vinyl stripes or graphics.
Wheel Spats
The Skyranger and Nynja wheel spat
option include glassfiber wheel spats for all three wheels Like all
glassfiber work on Skyranger and Nynja is finished in gel coat white but
may be painted any colour you choose during the build. The advantages of
spats is that they stop mud being thrown up when operating on damp
strips and they also add a couple of knots to the cruise speed. They
look good too.
Wing Tip Fairings
These consist of white glassfiber
mouldings that cover the end of the wing. Primarily cosmetic they also
have the advantage of taking the first brunt of any hanger rash and
protect the fabric.
Two Piece Door.
The standard Skyranger kit includes a
single piece access door which hinges at the top and opens outwards.
The two piece door is a no cost option
consisting of two doors .The lower piece hinges at its front edge
and opens forward., whilst the top section is hinged at the top and
opens outwards. Advantages of this arrangement include: greater
curvature is possible in the doors allowing a little more width in the
cockpit. The aircraft can be operated with the top section opened on the
ground when taxying on hot days or in the air (at reduced speed) for
aerial photography or for that wind in the hair feel.
Float option
The floats of different manufactures
can be installed on Skyranger or Nynja. We can supply details on
request.
Bush Wheel Option
Optional bush wheels for the main
landing gear is recommended for rough field operation.
Parachute Option
Now becoming a more popular option it
is lightweight (soft Packs) and mounts easily.
